Sunday School at Big Cove Church
Christian Learning at Big Cove Church
An Adventure, Not a Bore!
Traditionally, Sunday School has been a big part of the Presbyterian practice. Big Cove Church carries on that tradition with new teachers in a new location! Classes are being held from 9:55-10:40 am each Sunday in the First Light Worship Center in Hampton Town Centre behind Publix in Owens Cross Roads. A nursery is available for children four and under. You don't have to be a member of Big Cove Church to join any of our studies! All studies are open to the public.
K-5th grade: Early elementary-aged children will enjoy learning about Jesus with the PC(USA) curriculum We Believe: http://www.pcusa.org/webelieve/children_wnt_0708.htm.
6th-8th grade: Middle school-aged children will study about Christ using the same scripture passages as the younger children but in more detail with the We Believe curriculum: http://www.pcusa.org/webelieve/yy_oldtestament.htm.
High School and Beyond: Two classes are offered for our young (and older) adults. The first is a spiritual book study group: The Screwtape Letters, by C.S. Lewis. The second group is led by rotating leaders and is a discussion of provocative and contemporary issues from The Thoughtful Christian: http://www.witherspoonsociety.org/2006/thoughtful_christians.htm.
On the first Sunday of each month, participants who are in care-giving roles (such as dealing with Alzheimer's relatives or those with other mental disorders) meet for sharing, prayer, and support.
On the second Saturday of each month at 9:30 am, the men meet for Bible Study at the First Light location to study the Book of Matthew.
Each Tuesday, women are invited to an afternoon Women's Bible Study from 3:30-4:15 PM at the First Light Center. We are studying the book The Bad Girls of the Bible.
On Wednesday evening, we meet for pizza at 6 PM and Adult Bible Study from 6:30-7:30 PM. Join us for a discussion of the Book of Exodus.
